The Cairde Initiative
The Cairde initiative was established in Merlin College as a buddy system for 1st year students in 2019 and is effective for helping students with the transition from primary to post primary education ever since.
Some of the activities/initiatives the Cairde organised:
- Journal checks each week (points system)
- Team bonding day
- Helped to organise lockers
- Lunch time check ins weekly
- Address assemblies with different announcements / tips / advice
- End of year colour run
- Helped out at events such as musical / charity quiz
