The student council meet at lunchtime every Thursday. At the beginning of the year, 5th years student Cathal Carr and Aalba Mathew were elected Chair and Vice-Chair of the council, while 6th year Fey Tijani took on the role of secretary. and TY student Nikita Reznik became the PRO. The council became a member of the Irish Secondary-Level Students' Union and took part in Comhairle na nÓg. This year, the council are working on a number of key areas to improve school life for all of the students at Melin College.
This includes:
- More seating for seating cycle students on the second floor
- Ratification of the new mobile phone policy
- Microwaves for senior cycle students
- Discussions around uniform policy
- One Goal initiative
- Working on the introduction of student ID cards
